Events like film festivals are planned throughout the year with deadlines. Most film festivals traditionally take place around the same time every year. The International Mobile Film Festival has consistently taken place every year during the last weekend of April. IMFF 2020 was the 9th year of the event. It was set to be a very cool event and was ready to go as scheduled April 24-26, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Then, as someone put it, a huge wrench was thrown in the middle of it at the last minute and disrupted all the plans that we had worked so hard to organize. The wrench's name? COVID-19.
This year's 9th edition of the International Mobile Film Festival in San Diego took place during the same weekend, minus one day, on April 25-26.
Watch the Virtual Film Festival Show video and the Virtual Awards Show video. Depending on when you go to see the complete playlist of the event, you may still watch some of the films. They were all great films.

First Prize: Tom F. Pardo "Submerged" from Nice, France.

"I had a wonderful experience dealing with Susy and the IMFF. From start to finish the communication was excellent. I felt like my film was in good hands, and the support was amazing. This year's festival was forced to be online, but I have no doubt the hospitality and networking would have been top-notch had I been able to attend in person in San Diego. Highly recommend joining this family of mobile filmmakers."
Ian Leer | IMFF 2020
"A great festival to be apart of! The team is great at communicating and providing opportunities for the filmmakers to share and discuss their film, especially shooting on mobile devices. The line up this year was fantastic, and though we were not able to attend a live event (because of the pandemic) we look forward to meeting everyone in person in future years. If you're a filmmaker who made your movie with a mobile device, this festival is a must!"
